Workshop: Learn Qigong, The Five Regulations

Qigong is an ancient Chinese healing practice used to increase energy, reduce stress and improve strength, flexibility and balance. ‘The Five Regulations’ refer to the foundation of Qigong practice.

1) Regulate the Body — Learn how to identify and release tension and overuse in the physical body.
2) Regulate the Breath — Practice a variety of qigong breathing patterns designed to enhance your health by gently massaging organs and increasing oxygen flow through the body.
3) Regulate the Mind — Learn to focus your attention and intention, through simple, easy to learn exercises.
4) Regulate the Qi — Qi refers to the bioelectricity that flows through our body and powers our movement. Learn how to perceive movement of qi in the body and influence its direction, quality and quantity.
5) Regulate the Spirit — Spirit (non religious) refers to our connection to nature. Regulating the spirit is a very advanced form of meditation and we will only cover the principles of this practice.

This is an introductory course and open to all participants. The majority of the workshop will be spent in a seated position on the floor. We will have a variety of props to use for sitting, but you’re welcome to bring anything that will allow you greater comfort during the workshop. Participants may sit on chairs for the workshop, but please indicate this in the ‘notes’ section when registering.
